The Latest

We have been so busy, no time to get on here. We had visitors from Knoxville, Olivia Smith and Madalyn Carrier for 2 weeks, they just left Monday. We had a great time with them and they loved it, they didn't want to go home:) It was very encouraging to see things thru their eyes with their zeal and excitement. It gave us a boost.
Something we recently started doing is early morning service and the bus stop. We always find people who speak English. One girl, I talked to just moved here from Tennessee and before that she lived in California. We thought it was so funny we came from the same places! She said she had been to meetings before when she was younger. I gave her an invitation and she said she would really like to come. She didn't offer to tell me where she lived, but she did give me her phone number. We have talked one time since then, and I have high hopes for her.
One other girl that Olivia and I found didn't speak a whole lot of English, but we were able to understand that her mother and grandmother are witnesses and that she studied the Bible Teach book before. She said she knows she needs to get back to the Kingdom Hall. And she knows its the truth, and that the seed of truth is planted in her heart, or something like that:) It was hard to understand her. We left with hugs. A couple days later I took back my friend Claudia who is fluent in Spanish, and  told her she wants to study but it may be difficult because her husband is an alcoholic and doesn't like the witnesses.  Its so sad some peoples circumstances, they live in a concrete house the size of a bedroom with the kitchen in the front yard. Although I couldn't understand her, you could see her distress and she genuinely wants to study and do whats right. With Jehovah's help it will work out.
Being here has been such an eye opener, seeing the way other people have to live with practically nothing, and yet they are content and happy since that's all they've ever known. While in the States we can pretty much get whatever we want to a degree, and everything is at our fingertips, so convenient. But we still complain if we can't get the latest gadgets, all the thing's we think we need. It makes you think. The things that used to be so important, aren't anymore.
This is our last month and I know it's going to fly by. Nate has three public talks, one in Cancun, one on an island that we will take a ferry to, and another new outline he will be working on to give in our congregation. So we will be busy. Our plan is to return in the fall, if thing's work out. I've posted a few of our many pictures of the girls visit, etc. Love to all!
Took the girls to see the beach as soon as we picked them up:)

Their first day in service

On break at a coffee shop on the square in Puerto

And after service, to the beach we go! Maroma beach, one of the top ten in the world.

On this day we walked a very long street in service, and decided to walk back to the car on the beach. Much easier on the feet!

They think their presence makes us feel safer. I'm not so sure:/

The only beach I've been to here that has shells. Madalyn was very proud of her big Conch shell:)

Walking in downtown Playa del Carmen

Service in the jungle, walking the dirt roads.

The talks they gave here. They did a great job! So encouraging to see new faces on the stage:)

Snorkeling at a Cenote

She couldn't quite reach:)
An AMAZING storm we had yesterday! Never seen clouds like this before, you could actually see the rotation above you. It looked like a hurricane, it was very freaky, but awesome!
